Day 1-2-3

Here is my first travelogue from Malta! A little bit late, but Tessa and I have been so busy with exploring Sliema and some other cities here. ..

Friday Tessa and I departed from Eindhoven at 11:15 and we arrived in Malta around 14:00. When we got our baggage, a taxi chauffeur was waiting for us, and took us to our host family. Doreen (our host) was immediately very welcoming, and we found out that there is another French girl staying here too, but she is staying here for two months. Also she is very friendly. After we met our host, we decided to explore Sliema (the town in which we ‘live’) but first we changed our clothes, because it is really warm here, approximately 30 degrees  In the evening we met a friend of ours, who is staying here for a 3 month internship. However, we were really tired, and decided to go to bed a little bit early, because another long, but very nice day would be coming…

Sunday we went to Valetta, the capital town of Malta, which was beautiful! Valleta is quite the opposite from Sliema. In Valetta there are a lot of enormous, beautiful churches and other places of interests, while Sliema doesn’t contain these and is more about the nightlife. After some sightseeing, we went to Golden Bay (a beach). We had to travel for approximately an hour, because Malta does not have a lot of sandbeaches. At the beach we hired a pedalo, and went into the sea with it for an hour, which was really fun! The day passed by fast, and we decided to go home and take a shower. Later, we went to Sliema to have dinner, and we ended up in an Italian restaurant and ate some pizza and had a few drinks. After dinner, we went to Paceville which is a small district near Sliema.

At 8:30 today we needed to go to Am Language for a meeting about our internships, because these will start tomorrow. We got to know how late we are expected to be there tomorrow, and how we need to go to the places of our internship. Tessa and I went to both places today, to make sure we know where we need to be tomorrow. After this, we went to Valetta again, to see the Saint John’s co-cathedral, which supposed to be really beautiful, and it definitely was! The cathedral was full of golden walls, ceilings and art. We then went to a shopping centre, and met another student from our school which is also doing his internship here in Malta.

Tonight we will go to the welcome party of Am Language, and we will meet other foreign students who are doing an internship here as well. It supposed to be very nice, so I think we will have a great time tonight!

Tessa and I are already making a lot of plans of what we would like to do next weekend, we may want to go to the Blue Lagoon, and go to Mdina, which is a very old town.
